R Ashwin after winning the toss, elected to field first.

RCB win over KXIP and move out of the last position

In spite of Virat Kohli not contributing much, RCB got off to a flyer in the powerplay getting to 70/1 with Parthiv Patel taking on the bowling attack along with Ab Devillers.
They then slowed down as they just managed to reach 138/4 at the end of over number 17 and hence scoring just 68 in the 9 overs. Ab Devillers was looking to push the scoring rate and Stoinis was striking under a run a ball. The spinners really kept RCB quite during this stage as M Ashwin finished with 1/31 in 4 overs and R Ashwin bowled a great spell giving just 15 runs and picking up 1 wicket in 4 overs.
However, it was carnage in the last 3 overs as they smashed 16,21, and 27 runs off the 18,19, and 20th overs. Devillers ended up with an unbeaten 82 off 44 balls and Stoinis supported with 46 off 34 balls. The last three overs went for 64 runs which is massive and that got RCB to 202 which was a massive score.

Gayle and Rahul got off to a flyer as well, getting 42 runs in just 3.2 overs. KL Rahul and Agarwal got a good partnership as well as they crossed 100 runs before the 10th over and were well in command of the chase. Agarwal and Rahul getting out in successive overs got RCB back on track as Miller who came in after that struggled. Pooran was very good as he started to get Punjab back into the game. In spite of Poorans hitting, it was tough to keep up with the increasing rate. When it was 30 required of the last two overs, Saini bowled a terrific over giving away just 3 runs and got both Miller and Pooran out which sealed the game for them.

Looking at it, RCB got 64/0 of the last 3 overs and KXIP got 18/4 in the last 3 overs which was a massive difference in the game. Both teams will feel that the last 3 overs of both innings is what made the difference for both teams.

This victory has taken RCB out from the last position for the first time this season!!!
