The Union Road Transport Ministry has reportedly mandated that all cars manufactured after July 1, 2019 should be equipped with airbags, seat-belt reminder systems, reverse parking alerts and alert systems for speed beyond 80kmph. Reports say, at present, such safety features are available only in luxury cars and the ministry has approved the timeline for these systems, which will be notified in a few days.
