Police barred from using cellphones on duty in north Goa, south Goa districts

Police in the north and south Goa districts have reportedly been barred from using cell phones on duty and would be penalised if found doing so. As per the circular, instructions were issued earlier that the local police personnel deployed on field duty should not use mobile apps and mobile phones for personal calls to prevent their attention from being diverted from duty. If found using cell phones, It will be treated as misconduct and the guilty will be penalised under rule 3(1) of the Police Subordinate Service (discipline and appeal) Rules, 1975, the circular added.
