MICE ENTER ATM, DESTROY CURRENCY NOTES WORTH RS 12 LAKH

According to reports, mice entered an ATM belonging to State Bank of India and destroyed currency notes worth Rs 12 lakh in Tinsukia district of Assam. The incident came to light on June 11 when technicians visited to get the machine repaired as it was being shut for technical failure since May 20.

When they opened the ATM, they found shredded pieces of Rs 2000 and Rs 500 currency notes. The destroyed money has been valued at Rs 12,38,000 by the bank officials. The ATM is being run by FIS: Global Business Solutions, a Guwahati-based financial company. The company reportedly deposited Rs 29 lakhs in the ATM on May 19.

A bank official reportedly told that they were able to salvage about Rs 17 lakhs. SBI has reportedly filed a complaint with the Tinsukia police. A local journalist reportedly said that the incident happened under mysterious circumstances as it took so long for the technicians to arrive.
