Heavy rains in UP: Death toll rises to 80.

According to reports, at least 80 people have died in Uttar Pradesh as heavy rains continue to lash out at the state from last week. Relief Commissioner Sanjay Prasad reportedly said that at least 10 people have died and seven others were injured in rain-related incidents in the past 24 hours.

The heavy rains in the districts of Lucknow, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Bareilly caused flooding in the rivers and canals. Day-to-day lives of people are affected due to the bottleneck in vehicle traffic. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the senior officials of the affected districts to take necessary action to empty the dilapidated buildings and to provide medical and financial assistance to the people affected by the rains.

Prasad was quoted as saying, “10 persons were killed and seven injured in different parts of UP since yesterday. The toll since last week in such incidents has reached 80 while total injuries are 84 till 11.30 am today.”
