Government removes Bamboo from ‘Tree’ categories

The government has removed Bamboo from the ‘Tree’ category. President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday cleared an ordinance amending the Indian Forest Act, 1927. The move has been made to encouraging bamboo plantations which will help in doubling the farmers’ incomes by 2022.
