Shaadi ke Side Effects is an upcoming romantic comedy starring Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan in the lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Pritam and here is an exclusive audio review of the album.

Harry is Not a Brahmachari
Singers: Divya Kumar, IshQ Bector, Jaazy B
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya

The fun filled album begins with a power packed track having the blend of Punjabi, Trance, Disco influences.  The vocalist does a good job in making it a lively track with the melodic touch. The track has a strange Arabic flavor in the midst of so many genres as well.

Tumse Pyaar Hogaya
Singers: Aditi Paul, Nikhil Paul George
Lyrics: Swanana Kirkire

In contrast with the power packed beginning, the album takes a chilled out form with an easy listening melody sung well by the vocalists. The orchestration is essentially country and modern jazz style making it a fun hearing.  The baritone voice of Nikhil Paul George suits brilliantly for the mood of the track.  The usage of harmonica and jazzy saxophone is another big asset.

Tauba Main Vyaah Karke
Singers: Alam, Poorvi Koutish , Shahid Malya
Lyrics: Mayur Puri

This track is a funny take on the plight of modern era weddings thereby justifying the title of the film. The track features rap blended with a Punjabi styled singing with the before/ after story of marriages. The usage of electric guitar and Punjabi rhythm is brilliantly conceived and executed.

Desi Romance
Singers: Arijit Singh, Suchi
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

A disco track sung in blend of Hindustani and Punjabi style carries the soul of the album. Arijit Singh, who usually sings mellowed melodies, sings a sprightly track this time.  The track has got good fun moments with typical Pritam orchestration.

Yahaan Wahaan
Singers: Farhan Akhtar
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

A laidback unplugged track sung by the lead actor Farhan Akhtar himself at his best. The track carries a great emotion and soul of the complete album with ease and perfection. The acoustic guitar does its job neatly giving the track a relaxing feel.  Usage of harmonica in the interludes is done brilliantly.

Bawla Sa Sapna
Singers: Mohit Chauhan
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

Another pleasant track follows with Mohit Chauhan joining the musical treat now. His voice gives a great impact to the track with simple orchestration and good bass elements.  The lyrics are simple as well speaking of simple pleasures in life in impactful words. The interludes are neatly woven in the midst of strings, minimal percussion and breezy saxophone.

Harry’s Not a Brahmachari (The Original Song)
Singers: Divya Kumar, IshQ Bector, Jaazy B
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya

Another version of the heavily loaded track with more orchestration and chorus layers this time arrives. However, it leaves a loud impact on the listener.

Tauba Main Vyaah Karke Pachtaya (Punjabi)
Singers: Alam, Arif Lohar, Poorvi Koutish
Lyrics: Mayur Puri

The fun song arrives again in Pure Punjabi lyrics and more layers of Punjabi percussions blended with trance and House beats. This track with its staunch Punjabi flavor could restrict its audience eventhough it has many layers of music for the listeners to enjoy.

Bawla Sa Sapna (The Children Come to Sing)
Singers: Diva
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

A sweet track sung with sheer innocence and feel good orchestration. The way the children vocals were used is commendable with minimal layers of instruments- giving a wonderful impact to the listener. While the first version gives an earthy ambience, this track gives the innocence as fresh as a dew drop.

Yahaan Vahaan (Reprise)
Singers: Farhan Akhtar
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

The unplugged track takes the form of a Classic Rock Ballad with great electric guitars and nice supporting bass guitar. This version scores equally with the original as it has the optimum blend of various layers of orchestration.  The track scores big with the great electric guitar solo in the second interlude.

Harry’s Not a Brahmachari (Remix)
Singers: Divya Kumar, IshQ Bector, Jaazy B
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya

The power packed track arrives again with noisy layers of trance and house percussions. The excess layers of orchestration could have clearly been avoided making it a decent remix track.

Verdict: An entertaining album from Pritam with a good blend of various contemporary styles.
