KAMINEY MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Manjari Hegde

Music Director : Vishal Bhardwaj
Vocals : Sukwinder Singh, Vishal Dadlani, Suresh Wadkar, Rekha Bhardwaj, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kunal Ganjawala, Vishal Bhardwaj and Mothit Chauhan.S
Lyrics : Gulzar Saab

After the most critically acclaimed Omkara, Vishal Bhardwaj comes his most awaited venture Kaminey as both director and music director. His last film as a music director was U Me Aur Hum which did not show any magic in the box office. The producer Ronnie Screwvala is hand tied with his films coming up week after week but promotes each one accordingly. Will this all rounder cum music director spread his magic? Lets analyze..

Dhan Te Nan---
Vocals: Sukwinder Singh and Vishal Dadlani

The album starts with the song ‘Dhan Te Nan’ a complete tapoori style song. The intro of the songs comes with a bang marking its arrival. The music of the song sounds like the discos in the 80’s. A good cocktail of both. Sukwinder and Vishal Dadlani have given justice to the song. The remix of the same is not that impressive.

Raat Ke Dhai Baje---

Vocals: Suresh Wadkar, Rekha Bhardwaj, Sunidhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala

Suresh Wadkar gives a soothing touch to the otherwise a little rap song. Sunidhi's voice just fits the bill and Kunal and Rekha also have done a good job. It is more of story telling. It is a song with lots of mixture in it. Remix of the same is a little better than the original.

Fatak---
Vocals: Sukwinder Singh and Kailash Kher

The sufi singer emerges with yet another number but with a different style. Sukwinder and Kailash compliment each other very well. It’s a pleasure to listen to them. The word ‘Fatak’ gives us a knock of understanding certain things in life.

Go Charlie Go---

Theme Music

This one has loads of strings in it. Bollywood is crazy about theme music like how Hollywood is. This music sounds a bit like the James bond types. ‘DHAN TE NAN’ completely covers the theme music.

Kaminey---
Vocals: Vishal Bhardwaj

Now Vishal comes up as a singer as well. It’s a surprise to hear him. A feel good song narrating the life story of the character. The word ‘Kaminey’ is stressed, showing the irony of life. It’s a ritual that at least one slow song should be there in a fast moving film.

Peheli Baar Mohabbat---
Vocals: Mohit Chauhan

A romantic number in a true lover boy style by Mohit. Confession of love. It has already made its place in the charts and people are humming it.

Verdict:

This one surely has loads of sound and music. Vishal Bhardwaj has experimented yet again. Gulzar Saab’s lyrics are unquestionable as we fail to understand how he catches up with the present generation. Don’t know how far the remixes will help. But all put together a good listen but does have a scope.
