'Vijay has graduated from Thalapathy to Thalaivan' - Event Story

Jun 21, 2013

Thalaivaa’s audio launch was treated in a high profile manner with entries being individually screened and only those invited were allowed, still there was a raucous group of Vijay fans who were a part of the evening, cheering every highlight.

The evening at the Taj Coramandel began on an auspicious note before the film’s producer Chandraprakash Jain delivered the opening address. He recalled Sri Mishri Productions’ earlier film, Rickshawmama, featuring Sathyaraj who was present at the event all suited up. Mr. Jain believed that the production house’s successful track record will continue with Thalaivaa. He had words of praise for Vijay for his personal conduct and sincerity.

Sathyaraj was his usual lively self and passed humorous remarks on the slick dress code for the evening issued by Director Vijay. But importantly the veteran actor pointed out that Vijay had now graduated from being ‘Thalapathy’ to becoming ‘Thalaivan’ and continued by saying that all of Vijay’s fans have now become ‘Thalapathys’ under the leadership of Vijay.

The star of the evening G.V.Prakash spoke of his excitement of composing for Vijay and as a bonus getting the chance to shake a leg with him for a song. G.V’s team performed unplugged versions of two songs while a dance group lit up the stage with their moves for ‘Tamil Pasanga’.

Some of the film’s key supporting characters such as the film’s villain Abhimanyu Singh and the second heroine Ragini were thrilled to see the reception by the audience for this film and said that the film had something special in it for everyone. Amala Paul looked like a glamorous fashionista in her beautiful outfit and thanked Director Vijay for casting her and joked that he would continue to do the same in the future. She said she never imagined that she would be dancing with Vijay, and that the superstar was a very warm person and made her feel very comfortable despite her nerves.

Santhanam, though not present at the event, spoke through a video recording and said that his fans will be satisfied with the comedy and the film itself will surely fulfil the expectations of the fans. Ilayathalapathy Vijay made a dramatic entry on stage to the sound of ‘Thalapathy Thalapathy’ earlier in the evening. When invited to speak a few words he was his usual measured self and only said that he had watched the film and he had enjoyed it and felt that the audience too will feel the same way.

Director Vijay thanked all the distinguished guests and his back-end team for their hard-work and support. The music was launched with a large contingent of actors and diginitaries that included Nasser, Saranya Ponvannan, Manobala, Suresh, Ponvannan, RB Chowdry, SA Chandrasekhar, T Siva and other along with the team of Thalaivaa.
