GIRLS WHO STOOD UP TO THE BIG VOCAL CHALLENGE

By Prathap

It's one thing to look pretty and even act intense onscreen. It's totally a different ball game to dub for oneself because not only that requires a lot of practice, it puts immense pressure on the actor to sound like her onscreen personality. Not to mention, not many of our lead women have dared to tread that territory. But again, there are exceptions and here they are.

Amala Paul - The pretty and petite Amala has not only experimented with her looks but she is taking up the challenge of speaking in her voice for the first time in Tamil in her next release, opposite Vijay, Thalaivaa.

Trisha - That crisp, sandpaper voice of Aaytha Ezhuthu, that was also urban chic, belonged to Trisha. We wonder why she didn't continue her stint with dubbing for herself although in her recent films such as Manmadhan Ambu, Mankatha and Samar, the actress spoke for herself.

Jyothika - Yes it was difficult to decipher but, Jyothika's efforts at speaking for herself need to be commended. For, she is no Tamil and she still did a pretty decent job in Maayavi.

Lakshmi Rai - Vaamanan saw Lakshmi Rai jumping the dubbing bandwagon and doing it rather well.

Anushka - It will be interesting to see how Anushka pulls off the challenge to dub for herself in her next release Irandam Ulagam.
