The internet is currently being flooded with news about Indian Air Force pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who is held in the custody of Pakistan Army.
Today(February 27th), Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that a pilot was missing in action after it had lost a MiG 21 Bison Aircraft after engagement with Pakistan Air Force that entered airspace on Wednesday.
Pakistan media showed video of a blindfolded man held by Pakistan Security Officials. In the video, the man identifies himself as Wing Commander Abhinandan of the IAF. He gives out his service number but denies to give any further information.
Coincidentally, Commander Abhinandan & his father retired Air Marshal S Varthaman are said to have helped director Mani Ratnam as consultants for the 2017 Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai starring Karthi & Aditi Rao Hydari. The movie deals with the story of a fighter pilot who is held as a captive in Pakistan.
