The trailer review of Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda

Jigarthanda – Mean and sleek

Feb 08, 2014

The first look teaser trailer of ‘Pizza’ fame Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda is out and going viral already. The teaser features Siddharth being held up by a bunch of goons on a barren land. As the rowdies make things ready for setting the hero on fire, a voice explains the meaning of Jigarthanda. “Jigar na heart. Thanda na cold. Cold Heart... Apdina eevu, erakkame illadhavan nu artham (Jigar means heart and Thanda translates to cold- so, cold heart. In other words- a very mean person)”, clarifies the voice.

With that short, 1 minute 04 seconds trailer, the director of the movie has brilliantly managed to convey the mood of the movie, without revealing any further.

The biggest highlight of the trailer however is the camera work. Gavemic U Ary’s extraordinarily sharp visuals and stylish compositions contribute to the mood of the teaser big time. The other highlight that's praise worthy is the music. Composer Santosh Narayanan is turning out to be a regular in all the new age movies and he is also proving to be a master of thrillers.

On the whole, Jigarthanda looks promising, sleek and technically sound. And it looks like Karthik Subbaraj has yet again come up with a thriller that can keep us glued to the seats.
