Kamal Haasan's love and respect for his guru K.Balachander is personified again. Having grown in the industry under the strong influence of KB, Kamal attributes almost all of his success to his Godfather.

KB was a path-breaking theater personality before he transformed into a master director. His hey-days comprised of writing plays and staging them. The then aspirant Kamal also had the theater experience influencing his acting to a larger extent, through Avvai Shanmugam and Balachander sir.

Now Kamal is giving it back. The 'Uttama Villain' has decided to start a theater troupe as a tribute to both of his gurus, rightly naming it as Balashanmugam.

Films as a medium emerged from theater groups and it's nice to strengthen the roots and go back to the basics. Kamal always sets the first and the best example.
