It's Mani Ratnam's day!

Jun 02, 2013
One among Indian cinema's most respected and revered directors, Mani Ratnam, turns 57 today, the 2nd of June. Mani has earned a unique place for himself in the history of Indian cinema with his choice of themes which transcend regional borders and have a national appeal. Many of his films such as Roja, Bombay and Iruvar will be remembered forever for their bold content and brilliant execution.

Some of his other legendary films include Mouna Ragam, Agni Natchathiram, Naayagan, Thalapathi, Alaipayuthey and Kannathil Muthamittal. Of late his films such as Aaytha Ezhuthu, Raavanan and Kadal haven't been able to manage commercial success though they impressed a certain section of the critics.
Mani is also credited for mentoring the Mozart of Madras, A.R.Rahman, and the two have formed an inseparable bond since Roja down to this year's Kadal. He has also worked with some really talented cinematographers such as Santosh Sivan, Rajiv Menon and Ravi K Chandran.

Behindwoods wishes Mani Ratnam a great day and wishes that he comes back to his very best with his upcoming films.
