Director G Murali Abbas is back after a 12 year old hiatus with Solla Solla Inikkum. The love story is much like those cheesy romantic clichés supposed to teach people in love a lesson or two about love. Not quite told in a sweet manner, as the title seemingly promises, Solla Solla Inikkum proves to be a source of tedium not sooner than it starts.

Navdeep plays the lovelorn youngster whose escapades in love don’t progress than the ‘boyfriend’ tag. He tries it with Madumitha, Sara and Suja with the same results. But with Mallika it proves to be different. Cupid strikes at the right spot, love blossoms. And we get the lesson of the day – unsuccessful love affairs actually beckon true love.

Navdeep has looks and the women, but sadly the movie has underutilized his skills. But he has served the purpose of a hero nevertheless without receiving any frowns. The gals Madumitha, Mallika Kapoor, Sara and Suja make sure the movie is colorful, often edging in on the gaudiness. Of the women, Mallika gets more scope and Madumitha, more sympathy.
  Solla Solla Inikkum

The movie also has Prakashraj as a treacherous villain and Ashish Vidhyarthi and Abhinay in roles that needed more development of the characters.

Everything including the production values and the performances look plastic in the movie announcing the hollowness of the script and the banality of the screenplay. Arthur Wilson’s camera comes as a saving grace while Bharathwaj’s music is just earsplitting.

Verdict: Nothing sweet!
