Theatres ready to receive Ajith and Kamal
May 10, 2006
Ajith
It was election fever in Tamil Nadu the last three weeks and many movies to be released were held back. Now that the elections are over, producers are gearing up to release their films.

Fearing adverse market, twelve films were released in the very month of February while eight were released in March. The fears are not totally unfounded though Abirami Ramanathan says: “If someone wanted to have reasons for not releasing a movie on time, they will always come out with some reasons. However, the exhibitors, at least in Chennai, did not see any drop in collections during the campaign.”
Some producers do see some connection between elections and movie viewing. The crowd at theatres thin down when the hustings are on. It is also the time that fans vent their feelings based on which party their icon endorses.

The movies to release shortly include Kamal’s Vaettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Ajith’s Godfather.
