Fans
in Andhra got lucky recently to meet
Gopika in close quarters; the actor
was mobbed recently in the City of
Secunderabad where she agreed to attend
the inauguration of a jewel shop.
Police were forced to charge lathi
to disperse the crowd and rescue the
actor from the swarming fans.
Rivalry
between two shops – located across the streets
in the locality – that decided to invite
Gopika and Nayan respectively for the inauguration
resulted in a stampede. Fans of both the actors
swarmed the streets to catch a glimpse of their
dream girls. Nayan dropped in first and left in
a jiffy after the inauguration carefully avoiding
the fervent crowd. However, fans stayed back to
see Gopika who arrived a little later for the
opening ceremony of the shop located opposite.
As soon as Gopika arrived, the thronging crowd
in front of the shop besieged her car and the
poor actor was caught in the stampede of frantic
fans wanting to touch her and have a closer look.
Policemen, who were present in the venue –
since the city police commissioner was also in
the invitee list – could not control the
crowd and later decided to charge the crowd with
lathi to rescue Gopika and let her inside the
shop.
Nonetheless the crowd did not subside even after
Gopika was safely escorted into the shop. Upon
the shop owners’ request the actor appeared
in the balcony and waved to the thronging fans.
After the inauguration ceremony, police escorted
the jittery actor to the airport.
