Not
all the lead damsels of Kollywood
tasted success in the first instant.
Many were given two thumbs down after
going through a photo session and
a make up test. However, later they
were spotted when lady luck smiled
at them and managed to grab limelight.
Sonia Agarwal, Trisha, and Nayanthara
are to name a few in this category.
Sonia
Agarwal was rejected after a make up test for
the Prabhu Deva starrer Manadai Thirudivittai.
The role was bestowed on Gayatri Jeyaram, however
Sonia was spotted by Selva Raghavan later for
his Kadal Kondein. While Gayatri could not create
more than a ripple, Sonia Agarwal went on to grab
a place among the topnotch heroines of Tamil cinema.
Nayanthara
was turned down after a photo session for
Parthiban’s production venture and
went back to Kerala cursing her luck. She
concentrated her career in Malayalam. However,
Kollywood embraced her right after with
‘Aiyya’ when she made her debut
with Sharathkumar. The rest is history.
Nayan is one of the hot properties of Tamil
and Telugu industries these days.
Trisha
made a flicker of an appearance in Prashanth
– Simran starrer ‘Jodi’
during her modeling days. Kamalini Mukherjee,
who made a cameo role in the hit Vetaiyadu
Vilayadu, was earlier roped in for ‘Vilayadava’
opposite Nanda. She took the train to Hyderabad
when the movie was shelved.
However,
none of the above mentioned lead ladies would
accept the fact that they have tried their hands
in other movies and were turned down before making
a grand debut.
