Many
film personalities in Bollywood had
decided to come together and express
their solidarity with Sanjay Dutt
who is facing trial under the Arms
Act. The move was initiated by Suniel
Shetty who is a close friend of Sanjay.
The call for support drew unexpected
response with many stars lending their
voice.
The plan was to conduct a signature
campaign which would culminate in
an All India cinema bandh on the 12th
of the month.
However
this move was not well received by the legal minds
of the country. They are of the opinion that such
a move was equal to interfering with court functioning
and could be considered as contempt of court.
If Sanjay has possessed arms, then no amount of
protests will help him escape punishment.
In the face of these developments, Sanjay Dutt
has come out and asked his friends to refrain
from their planned signature campaign. Whether
the film community carries on with its plans is
yet to be seen.
