Actress Nagma has always been in the centre
of controversies. First it was her alleged connection
with the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Followed
by the reports of her relationship with cricketer
Ganguly. Then came the speculations about the
real identity of her father. Now, for the first
time, in a candid interview, Nagma has broken
the silence, and revealed details about her
family background.
Talking to media persons, she has confessed
that her father is Arvind Pratap Singh Morarji
belonging to the family that owns a leading
textile mill. She also stated that her mother
Seema, a Muslim, got married to Arvind Pratap
in the year 1972. |
The
registered wedding took place at the Radio
Club at Colaba in Mumbai. Nagma confessed
her real name is Nanditha. Even in her passport,
(which was again renewed in 2003), her name
is registered as Nanditha and not as Nagma.
When her father passed away in January this
year, in the condolence message in the obituary
column, newspapers carried the name of Nanditha
along with the names of Arvind Pratap Singh’s
other two sons. However, it remains to be
seen if her name has been included in her
father’s will.
The actress stated that few years after
their wedding, her parents sought divorce
on personal grounds, and her mother married
Chandar Sadhana. In fact, her sister, Jothika
was born out of this remarriage. Nagma looked
relieved and remarked that she felt light
now that she has come clean about the identity
of her father, which remained a mystery
until now. |
