Shankar: A costly director, low-budget producer
April 12, 2006

Shankar

Director Shankar is also money savvy. Reports say that he was paid five crores for Sivaji. He is now producing Veyil and Imsai Arasan Irubatthimoonraam Pulikesi and the production cost of both the films is less than three crores. How come that when it comes to his home production Shankar spends less but manages to give a hit while working for other producers he goes for a mega budget? Shankar produced his big hit Kaadhal for just sixty lakhs though he claims that he spent ninety lakhs on it. Shankar has now brought in Balaji Sakthivel again to make another film, of course in a low budget. Let us wait and see when Shankar will give a low budget hit for other producers.
