MD Prathasarathy’s birth
centenary was on 21st September 2010. This
great multifaceted personality has proved
his mettle as an actor, singer and musician.
What started as a hobby soon became a passion
for MDP. He has rendered yeoman service
to the theatre in the 1930s. In the year
1936, he had starred in the film Karudagarva
Bangam. His role as Anjaneyar earned him
awards.
He was also popular among the radio listeners
in those days with the music he scored
for various dramas. His voice enthralled
the listeners but unfortunately MDP had
to cut short his radio career owing to
his entry to filmdom.
MDP turned out to be even more popular
with his movies receiving good responses
from the public. This legend has indeed
attained great heights in his times, and
the present generation needs to know about
his achievements to draw inspiration.
