Call it dearth of stories or drying
up creativity, Tamil cinema seems
to be increasingly resorting to
remaking old hits. After the successful
Billa, Rajini’s movies seem
to be the favorite ones. Last heard,
Johnny, the Mahendran-directed classic
starring Rajini and Sridevi will
be the next in line to be remade
by the director’s son John
Mahendran. It is also learnt that
Arya is among the director’s
choices to recreate the Robinhood
type role immortalized by the Superstar.
Interestingly, not so long ago,
Ajith, in a television interview,
denied news about any Johnny remake
being planned.
