The search for the next Prabhu
Deva ends, as the finals of the
Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva
was held on June 26, 2009 at YMCA
grounds. The popular TV show was
judged by number of celebrities,
but for the finals none other than
the idol himself evaluated the performance
and awarded the winners.
Four contestants advanced to the
finals Premgopal, Sherif. Nanda
and Manojkumar. Of the four, Sherif
was declared the winner for his
electrifying performance. Sherif
was awarded a cash prize of Rs.10
lakhs and all the three runner ups
were presented with Rs.1 lakh each.
Popular dancers Shobhana, Rukmani
and Ragasiya also performed on stage.
Prabhu Deva also performed on stage
with the finalists. Speaking at
the event Prabhu said, “A
show named after me gives me great
honor and I realize the huge responsibility
of taking dance to a next level.”
This was the day the whole world
condoled the death of the Pop Icon
Michael Jackson and Prabhu Deva
stated, “Michael Jackson is
one of the reasons for me to be
a dancer that I’m today. I
grew up watching his videos and
feel bad that he is no more. But
today, I feel very glad to be here
to witness many dancers and it will
be a tribute for the King of Pop
himself.” |
