Kamal in a $50 million martial arts thriller

It’s called 19 Steps and will be produced in collaboration with Walt Disney. The budget? $50 million! This is to be directed by Bharat Bala, who is now famous for his Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana Rahman music videos.

After Kamal completes Marmayogi, 19 Steps will go on the floors –this

would be roughly mid 2009. 19 Steps will also star the popular Japanese actor, Tadanobu Asano, know for his samurai roles in the Zatoichi series.

Scripted by the famous Malayalam screenwriter, M.T. Vasudevan Nair, the outline of the story as we know it now is about a Samurai warrior trying to conquer the ancient Indian martial art of Kalaripayattu. And it is from Kamal, playing an Indian martial arts guru, that he learns the difficult 19 th step of the art.

Now this is one Kamal movie really worth looking forward to.
