Children piercing cheeks for Jayalalithaa’s recovery: NHRC raps TN govt

The National Human Rights Commission has reportedly rapped the Tamil Nadu government over children piercing cheeks with iron rods for late AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa’s recovery when she was admitted to Apollo hospital. Directing the police to register a case under various sections of IPC, NHRC directed to take disciplinary action against the police personnel who were present at the spot. Reportedly about 20 children were forced to pierce their cheeks with iron rods in October 2016 for Jayalalithaa’s speedy recovery.
