Deputy Superintendent Mohammed Ayub Pandith of the Jammu and Kashmir police was brutally beaten to death by a mob outside the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar on Thursday. The officer was posted on security duty outside the mosque during congregational prayers when he was attacked by a mob of more than 200 people, said police. Three of the accused have been identified, and two have been arrested, say reports.
