The Uttarakhand government reportedly allowed the sale of alcohol through mobile vans and trucks. The government insists the decision was taken as women groups in the state are opposing the opening of liquor stores in residential areas and also for the state’s financial health. Following the SC's order for no liquor shops within 500 meters of national highways, the Uttarakhand government asked those affected to move their shops to other areas.
