Supreme Court on Thursday reportedly said that a man forcibly having sex with his wife above 15 years of age is not marital rape, due to an exception in IPC's rape law. It only considers sex with wife below the age of 15 as marital rape. The bench said that the exception was made to protect the institution of marriage.
