A wife's beauty is her husband's love. The tagline of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol says a lot about the movie. The man behind the huge success of 'Vellimoonga', director Jibu Jacob brings out glimpses of Mohanlal of the 90's in this beautiful family movie.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is the story of Aaniyamma and Ulahannan who, after almost two decades of boring life figure out that loving each other is the only way to make life interesting. The movie is an attempt by the director and the screenwriter Sindhuraj to inspire the audience into upholding family values. The screenplay is loosely based on a Malayalam short story 'Pranayopanishath' by V J James.

If Vellimoonga was a film that highlighted all the strong points of the debutant director, then Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbal is the film that highlights some of his weak points. The story has a good value, but the direction and the screenplay are not at its best. Predictability and the presence of many cliched characters make a beautiful story with a strong message, over dramatic and less engaging. The lack of a solid script or a strong screenplay is a major minus of the film.

There is no one in Malayalam industry that could've portrayed Ulahannan as convincingly as Mohanlal. He plays the two shades of Ulahannan, the unromantic Panchayath secretary and the loving romantic husband with such ease. The chemistry between Mohanlal and Meena in their eighth film is wonderful and still is as awesome as it was in their first film. Aima Sebastian, Sanoop Santhosh, Anoop Menon, Sudheer Karamana and Asha Sarath play the other important roles in the movie.

The music department of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is on the lower side despite being handled by two State Award winning music directors. Bijibal has composed the background music and two songs in the movie. M Jayachandran has composed the other two songs. All the songs are nice but not as special as one would expect from the two top class music directors. Cinematography by Pramod K Pillai is average and has no extra beauty to lift the movie to the next level.
