Our drawing rooms are adorned with TV sets which of late have played a pivotal role in engaging our folks. With the advent of
Teleserials much importance is given to viewing without battling an eyelid.

The midday serials in various channels lull us into slumber. Though some are engrossing many others have an element of “Ennui”. Since it drags on for months you do not miss anything even if you do not view it one day.

I have seen people glued to the TV sets and biting their nails oblivious of the surroundings. Blissfully ignorant of the entrance of the guest. They customarily nod to the guests who have entered. They are not in a state to find out who the guests are. Doors ajar, even the “honorable” thief can enter the house to plunder. I am not exaggerating this fact. It has been documented in news papers.

On many festive occasions when people are in joyous mood their evenings. Are spent weeping and sobbing. This is due to the sorrowful scene in the TV Where the protagonist either falls seriously ill or encounters major problems.

When the characters weep our viewers weep along with them. Very few serials are fast and gripping. They are fund of knowledge and we tend to educate ourselves. But plots of that kind are few and limited. The director tries to thrust all kinds of problems on the major characters in order to idolize him or her. Some of the serials are stranger than real life. Probably
Many of them are instigated by viewing serials. With its entire plus and minuses TV serials continue to haunt people. I have seen. Old people calling their friends on phone to find out their missed portions. It would be useful if serials which are value based be telecast.
