Indian Summer gets government clearance

Joe Wright is all set to direct Indian Summer, a film based on the lives of Jawaharlal Nehru and Edwina Mountbatten. The Indian government had reportedly given clearance to the film that is to be based on the book Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire, penned by Alex von Tunzelmann on the condition that it be showcased to a government-appointed representative on completion.

Irrfan Khan has been approached to play Jawaharlal Nehru while Cate Blanchett will don Edwina Mountbatten’s role. Talks are on with Hugh Grant to play Mountbatten.
