In less than a month of his first Bollywood release that is declared a runaway hit, Dhanush is returning homewards with his release Maryan. The big ticket movie has already become one of the highly anticipated movies of Tamil for the names associated with it. Directed by Bharat Bala, who shot into prominence with the Vande Mataram video, Maryan's most important highlight includes Rahman's music.

Rahman's songs have become chartbusters as soon as the audio was revealed. The seven songs in the film are eclectic in nature and are written by a variety of talented lyricists including Vaali, Kutti Revathy and Kabilan. Rahman and Dhanush have also collaborated on the lyrics and very interestingly, Yuvan Shankar Raja has sung the high energy and infectious Kadal Raasa Naan song.

Maryan marks the debut feature film venture in Tamil for the creative and talented ad man Bharat Bala, whose film credits include the critically well received 2004 release Hari Om. Bharat Bala opines that Dhanush has done a wonderful job as a fisherman in the movie. He has made the movie using Auro 3D sound technology that enhances the movie watching experience. Maryan is also the first film to mix native sound in the Auro 3D format according to the director.

Dhanush plays the role of an immigrant oil field worker in Sudan who is kidnapped and being held as a hostage. The movie follows Dhanush and two of his colleagues who escape from the hands of the cruel henchmen. Parvathy Menon plays the female lead. The movie also has the national award winning Malayalam actor Salim Kumar, Appukutty, Jagan and Uma Riyaz Khan.

Loosely based on real life events, Maryan will have a few Liberians as well. Shot extensively in Liberia, Namibia, Nagercoil and Kanyakumari, Maryan has underwater scenes filmed in Andaman for which Dhanush learnt diving. The movie's trailer on YouTube is already crossing the coveted 2 million mark.
