The arrival of Nivas K Prasanna - the next big thing in Tamil film music - Event Story

The music of the upcoming mystery thriller Thegidi was launched today morning at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai. The film stars Ashok Selvan and Janani Iyer in lead roles and the music has been scored by newcomer Nivas K Prasanna. The film has been helmed by debutant P.Ramesh, editing has been done by Leo John Paul and cinematography has been done by Dinesh Krishnan.

Thegidi totally has 5 songs and the likes of Shankar Mahadevan, Saindhavi Prakash, Andrea Jeremiah, Sathya Prakash Dharmar and Abhay Jodhpurkar have lent their vocal services to the album. Kabilan and Kurinchi Prabha have penned the lyrics for the album.

The event was highlighted by a mesmerizing live performance of 3 of Thegidi's numbers by Nivas and crew, including a spellbinding veena performance by Rajesh Vaidhya. The performances won the unanimous applause of the dignitaries, the media and the public and they were of the opinion that Nivas is the next big thing in Tamil film music. All the senior producers and popular directors who attended the event spoke in glowing terms about Nivas' talent.

Director Seenu Ramasamy used this platform to appeal to the big music directors in the industry such as Rahman and Harris Jayaraj to sign on small films too and give a push to such films, and not just the big budget flicks. He spoke about how small films have given all the big talents and stars to the industry, right from Sivaji Ganesan to Vijay Sethupathi.

Nivas took the opportunity to thank producer C.V.Kumar for this offer and also director Ramesh for inspiring him and extracting the best work out of him. The director also had a word of praise for the youngster's BGM score for the movie.

Ashok Selvan was cheered on by his friends and also by the dignitaries who spoke, including Vijay Sethupathi who jokingly said that Ashok is the next James Bond, on the evidence of the trailer.

Heroine Janani Iyer's perfect set of teeth earned a special mention from the Producer's Council President, Keyaar. Janani said that she was here to stay in the Tamil industry and do more films, contrary to some reports that she was focusing more on Malayalam films nowadays.

Director Ramesh was referred to as a real task master by the cast and crew of Thegidi and as someone who never settled for anything less than the absolute best.

The event also proved the pull and respect that producer C.V.Kumar enjoys in the industry nowadays as someone who is a trendsetter, a smart businessman, a game changer and a savior for small films. Everyone who spoke at the event, focused on C.V.Kumar in their speeches and he was indisputably the hero of the occasion.

C.V.Kumar's younger brother C.Senthil Kumar is marking his debut as a producer with Thegidi, along with experienced names such as Abi TCS Studios and Vel Mediaa. The stamp of Thirukumaran Entertainment behind Thegidi has surely increased the hype and expectations surrounding it.

All the directors who were introduced by C.V.Kumar such as Karthik Subbaraj, Pa. Ranjith, Nalan Kumarasamy, Deepan and also the likes of R.S.Prasanna, Balaji Tharaneetharan attended the launch and so did leading producers such as S.R.Prabhu, Sashikanth and Escape Artists Motion Pictures' Madan.

At the event, a teaser, trailer and a song from Thegidi were also screened and it was impressive to say the least. The movie is touted to release towards the end of February.
