The shoot of the film started recently and it is progressing at a brisk pace. Sources close to us have revealed that the satellite rights of this film has been bagged by Zee Tamil. Maamanithan features Ilayaraja, Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music directors, while M. Sukumar is the cinematographer.

Seenu Ramasamy had last directed Udhayanidhi's Kanne Kalaimaane, that also had Tamannaah in it. It performed decently at the box office whilst receiving mixed feedback from audience. It must be noted that it was Seenu, who introduced Vijay Sethupathi as a lead actor in his National Award winning film, Thenmerku Paruvakaatru.

On the other hand, Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in the film Petta, that had Rajinikanth in the lead role, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Sun Pictures. He is waiting for the release of the much awaited Super Deluxe, that is releasing on 29th March, while working on Manikandan's Kadaisi Vivasayi, and Arunkumar's Sindh Baadh.
