Vetri Maaran talks about Vada Chennai in a Behindwoods exclusive interview.
In a matter of 9 years, director Vetri Maaran has done 3 films, but all of them belong to the archives. Vetri's Polladhavan, Aadukalam and the soon to be released Visaaranai never fail to be lauded by the critics and the audience. Both as a director and producer, Vetri Maaran has tasted success.

If there is one film of Vetri Maaran, that has been in the talks for the last 6 years, it is Vada Chennai. After numerous changes and improvements, Vetri himself has confirmed about the project's certainty in a recently conducted Behindwoods exclusive interview.

He states, “I remember meeting Andrea Jeremiah somewhere in 2010 to narrate Vada Chennai's story. A lot of names were being considered but I needed the time and maturity to realize the vision the project demanded. I was very apprehensive about taking up Vada Chennai, but now it's time for us to put things together. Dhanush and Samantha are finally on board and few more big artists are being considered. Vada Chennai is my thorough understanding of the gangsters in Chennai and this movie would go for like 7 hours, which means, all the characters in it will have to transform and evolve for a period of like 35 years. So we have decided to make the film in two parts. Pre-production will begin in full swing and I'll talk about this later”.
