Today, the 13th of February marks the third death anniversary of the legendary Balu Mahendra who is considered as the doyen when it comes to cinematography and filmmaking.

He has made beautiful films such as Kokila, Azhiyadha Kolangal, Moodu Pani, Moondram Pirai, Sathi Leelavathi, Veedu, Marupadiyum and Thalaimuraigal to name a few. His films are poetries by themselves and his grammar of film making is something that every director wants to imbibe in. 

Kamal Haasan who has worked with him in Sathi Leelavathi and Moondram Pirai took to his Twitter page to say, “Remembering Balumahendra. Apart from friends Indian cinema misses you. இன்று பாலுமகேந்திராவின் நினைவு நாள். இந்திய சினிமா உனை மறவாது தமிழா”.
