Following this tradition, for his birthday this year, he visited the senior Tamil writer Ki Rajanarayanan popularly called as Karisalkaattu Kalaignan at his residence in Pondicherry and honored him with rupees one lakh. Ki Ra as he is fondly called as, has won Sahitya Akademy Award and has held position as the Professor of Folklore at Pondicherry University in the 80s.
