Kochadaiiyaan's co-producer opens up on the movie's performance

''Kochadaiiyaan's response in the North has been disappointing''

Jun 02, 2014

Superstar Rajini's Kochadaiiyaan has been doing well in Tamil Nadu as expected and also in some of the other southern states such as Kerala and Karnataka. But fans are eager to know how the movie's Hindi version is performing, as figures haven't been reported properly till now.

In a recent interview to a national news agency, the co-producer of the movie, Murali Manohar of Media One Global Entertainment opened up about the movie's performance in the North and also on how they could have done much better on the animation front. He also sounded positive about a possible sequel.

"We did what we could, given restrictions of time and budget. I agree we could've done a lot better. We will work much harder on the sequel to 'Kochadaiiyaan'

"The 3D motion-capture technique was new to the audience in India. While Tamil and Telugu audiences took to the new format of storytelling wholeheartedly, audiences in the Hindi belt neither understood nor did they want to go with the technique. So yes, the response in the north has been disappointing"

Coming to the commercial prospects of Kochadaiiyaan, Murali Manohar was matter of fact and said

"We are already a big success in Tamil and Telugu. Recovery of investment in Hindi would take longer than we expected. But we're confident of getting back our investments"
