Kamal Haasan's film in trouble again

Kamal Haasan’s film in trouble again

Jul 23, 2014

Drishyam, the Malayalam blockbuster starring Mohanlal and Meena is getting remade in Tamil with Kamal reprising Mohanlal’s role and Jeetu Joseph directing the Tamil version too. The film is produced by Suresh Balaje and George Pius of Wide Angle Creations and Raj Kumar Sethupathy and Sripriya Rajkumar of Raj Kumar Theatres Pvt Ltd.

Meanwhile Satheesh Paul, a Malayalam filmmaker-scriptwriter has filed a petition with the Ernakulam District Court asking the Tamil remake of Drishyam to stop, saying that the original film is a copy of his story called 'Oru Mazhakalathu' published as a book in May 2013.

When Behindwoods got in touch with producer Suresh Balaje, this is what he had to say, “It is strange to note that the Malayalam version was released some time ago and the petitioner is filing the case only now. Anyway, we have spoken to our lawyers and it has been taken care of. The issue will be resolved in our favour. Once the matter is resolved, we will go on floors very soon”.
