WATCH - LION SLASHES FOUR-YEAR-OLD GIRL'S FACE AT CIRCUS

In a shocking incident in Russia, a circus lioness slashed the face of a four-year-old girl. The incident reportedly happened on Sunday during a show in southern Russia for young children.

The terrifying incident was caught on camera. From the footage, the lion can be seen held by a tamer. The lion suddenly pounces on the little girl as the tamer tries to hold it back in vain. The girl was reportedly standing very close to the ring with her back to the lioness.

The victim suffered lacerations to her face and other injuries and was taken to the hospital. The lion reportedly did not bite the girl but only lashed her face with its paw.
