Washington derailment: Several killed

According to reports, several people were killed when an Amtrak train derailed in Washington state on Monday around 7.30am. The train travelling for the first time on a new high-speed route had 77 passengers and seven crew members on board. At least six people died, and the number could rise, a US official reportedly said. Authorities reportedly said that more than 100 people were sent to local hospitals, with more than a dozen suffering severe or critical injuries.
