Donald Trump announces to withdraw USA from Iran nuclear deal

President Donald J Trump announced on Tuesday that he will be withdrawing USA from the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The deal initiated during the Obama-era had been heavily criticised by the current president.

Trump reportedly said, "It is clear to me that we cannot prevent Iran's nuclear bomb. The Iran deal is defective at its core. Therefore, I am announcing today that the United States would withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal."

The JCPOA is an international agreement between Iran and six countries - the US, France, China, Russia, Britain, Germany and also the European Union. The agreement ensures Iran does not engage in any nuclear programme for an easing of economic sanctions in its capital, Tehran.

Iran Prime Minister Hassan Rouhani, however, informed that Iran will continue to adhere to the deal. He reportedly said, "If we achieve the deal's goals in cooperation with other members of the deal, it will remain in place... By exiting the deal, America has officially undermined its commitment to an international treaty.

Trump's move was also condemned by the former president Barack Obama who wrote on his Facebook page, "I believe that the decision to put the JCPOA at risk without any Iranian violation of the deal is a serious mistake. Without the JCPOA, the United States could eventually be left with a losing choice between a nuclear-armed Iran or another war in the Middle East."
