According to data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) on Thursday, Chennai has recorded the most number of cases of cognizable crimes under special and local laws (SLL) in 2016. Chennai reportedly accounts for 32.9 percent of the total such crimes reported across 19 metropolitan cities in 2016 while Kochi in Kerala (12.9%) and Surat in Gujarat (12.6%) are the second and third.
