Rehearsals were reportedly conducted in coastal villages of Kanyakumari to train people on taking precautionary measures in the event of a Tsunami alert. The Coast Guard officials, Revenue officials, policemen, fisheries officials, fire officials, social activists, a medical team and the disaster relief force reportedly participated in the rehearsals. People in the surroundings were initially panicked, report suggests.
