Chennai reportedly has the lowest mall vacancy at 8.3% followed by Bengaluru at 11.3%, Hyderabad at 11.7% among the tier-1 cities. According to a report by a firm Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL), this has led retailers to shift towards tier-2 cities such as Coimbatore for brand expansion. Coimbatore being a smart city along with an international airport is reportedly proving to be an advantage for the city.
