Under the expansion programme launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, six taluks are likely to be added to the Chennai district. Reports say, the administrative control of six taluks including Alandur and Sholinganallur in Kanchipuram district, and Ambattur, Maduravoyal, Madhavaram and Tiruvottiyur in Tiruvallur district are likely to come under Chennai district boundaries on April 1.
