Passenger dies in Superfast express train, body travels 1,500 kms in 7

In a shocking incident, a Kanpur based businessman died in the Patna-Kota Express and his body travelled about 1,500 kilometres without anyone noticing it. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal boarded an AC III-tier coach on the train in Kanpur at 6 am on May 24. He was headed to Agra to attend a wedding.

Sanjay’s wife called him around 7.30 am and inquired about his health. He complained of uneasiness and said that he was going to get down as early as possible. However, after some time, his phone was allegedly switched off and his wife lodged a complaint with Government Railway Police.

His body was found after almost 72 hours in the S1 coach of the train in Patna railway station. A GRP officer reportedly said that Sanjay could’ve died of heart attack in the bathroom after hanging up his wife’s phone call.

While no one noticed and bothered to check the bathroom, which was locked for a long time, the train reached Kota. The train began its return journey and travelled 1000 kilometres to reach Patna. The body travelled about 1500 kilometres without anyone including cleaning staff and security staff noticing.

The board, after reaching Patna, was sent to a yard where cleaning staff felt an unbearable stench from the toilet. Later Railway Police broke the toilet door open and found the body of Sanjay lying there.
