Many Sri Lankan Tamil refugees want permanent citizenship

According to reports, many Sri Lankan Tamils have opted to continue to live in India and have sought that action should be taken to give them permanent citizenship. At a review meeting held in Mandapam refugees camp in Ramanathapuram district, where 1,800 Sri Lankan Tamils participated, around 500 people have expressed their willingness to continue to live in India. However, 1,000 others have reportedly said that they want to return to Sri Lanka as the normalcy has returned to the country after the civil war.
