MAKKAL NEEDHI MAIAM'S ALL-PARTY MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan's party Makkal Needhi Maiam convened an all-party meeting to discuss the Cauvery water issue on May 19. In the meeting, Kamal Haasan stated that the Supreme Court's order on forming the Cauvery should be confimrned.

Kamal stressed on desilting the lakes and ponds of TN to secure the water. He also insisted on building water blockages and stated that legitimate steps have to be taken to set up the Cauvery delta areas as protected agricultural land.

He said that the minimum procurement price for all agricultural products should be increased and kept fixed. He said, "A team of farmers and technical experts has to be formed to track and help with requests received. We will help make it possible and help continue to follow it."
